Candle Making

Hi All,

Recently I tried making candles at home and succeeded quite well in the task!

We need

1) Paraffin wax (Do not use any other wax)
2) Candle moulds for the shape of the candle.
3) Wick.
4) A small stick (can be cut from broom stick as well).

Method

1) DOUBLE BOIL the Paraffin wax.
2) Insert the wick into the wax and sharpen the end.
3) Pierce a hole in the middle of the mould and insert the wick through the hole from one end and tie the other end with a small stick such that the stick lies horizontally on the top of the mould. (see the picture 2 below)
4) When the wax melts completely add the colour crayon of your choice and allow it to melt.

5) Pour the coloured melted wax into moulds and allow it to set overnight. Observe the wick which is inserted from the hole at the bottom of the mould with the other end tied to a small stick placed horizontally top of the mould

6) Once the wax sets overnight, in the morning overturn the mould and remove the wax carefully.

Note : You can also make multi-coloured candles by pouring one layer of coloured wax (say green), wait for sometime till its set.. say 2-3 min and then pour the next layer of coloured wax (say red) and wait for it to set and then pour the third layer of the coloured wax.

So here you are with the home-made candles all ready to brighten up your house!!

The Indian Bride

Hello All once again!
My next painting is on a homely Indian bride all dressed up in a richly coloured dress and gold jewellery carrying a plate of fruits and milk for her love.

This also completes one wall of my home and here is the snapshot of the three paintings at once on the wall.

Another Rajasthani Girl

Hi All,

I got the oppurtunity to paint yet an another Rajasthani girl wearing the typical bright coloured dresses.
As usual I used the golden glitter tube to empasize the work on the dress and to depict the jewels.
Hope you enjoy this as much as I did while painting the same!!!

Rajasthani Girl

My next painting is that of a Rajasthani girl. I got an oppurtunity to visit Rajasthan a year and a half ago and one of the striking observations is the fact that people living there mostly wear bright coloured dresses. I have tried to depict the same in my painting giving the dresses a bright pink and a green combination. I also used the golden sparkles tube to give a good touch to the jewels and decorations.

The process of revamping my home with painting had left many pieces of glasses. I utilized one such piece for creating this.

I used one such left over glass for this painting of mine and framed it and placed it on the wall.

This is my first ever glass painting. And what better picture to choose than Lord Krishna and Yashoda!
The picture of Lord Krishna and Yashoda is one of my most favourite pictures. Just love the way the emotions are depicted.

I purchased the normal glass painting kit containing the 6 colours : Red,Green,Blue,Orange,Magenta and Lemon Yellow besides the Glass Outliner. I also purchased gold glitter tubes to give the royal touch to the jewels.
